'welcome to kung fu coffee co.'

So why Kung fu? Kung Fu can be translated literally as 'time' and 'energy.' Which so happens to be the very two things required to make a change, master a skill or to make progress in any given direction. The term 'Kung fu' lends itself to any endeavour or art form that requires persistence & practice to progress. In the context of roasting Coffee, it is the 'Roast Curve' or the "path travelled" by the green beans within the roaster that requires the skilful use of time & energy! Something that is learnt over......you guessed it, time & yes, with lots of energy!
Our roaster at Kungfu Coffee Co. learnt his craft through a years full time apprenticeship with a NZ based International Espresso company. After which he became the sole production roaster for that same company for the next year and a half. Looking to develop his own "Style" he decided to leave this role to go forth into the world & search out other masters from which to learn. Here he found "The Roastery" on the Kapiti Coast! & like any other eager disciple, he hung around long enough for the master at 'The Roastery' to invite him in to learn his ways! From this, Kungfu Coffee Co. was born!! "AMITUOFO!"
'Kungfu Coffee is small batch roasted on the Kapiti Coast of Aotearoa, New Zealand.'

You will find the saying 'AMITUOFO' on every bag of Kungfu Coffee. This phrase has great significance to the the monks of Shaolin, the very birthplace of Kung fu! 'AMITUOFO' is used as a common greeting or farewell in Kung fu to express respect to all. Used by the Buddhist monks of Shaolin Temple to impart peace, compassion & gratitude to all sentient beings. Whilst also acting as an internal reminder for these Kung fu practitioner monks to stay calm, centered & to cultivate positive qualities within oneself for the good of all. It is with the spirit of AMITUOFO! that Kungfu Coffee Co. aims to deliver the chance of 'Enlightenment in every cup!'

"how many more coffees are you away from enlightenment?"
